Apprentice Program
What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a working and learning arrangement between you, a training provider and QSW. Your hands on learning will be delivered by Quality Site Welding with theoretical education taking place once a week or in week blocks at a registered RTO. The apprenticeship is typically 4 years in duration. The preferred certification is:
Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication)

What skills, experience and prior education are required?
HIGH SCHOOL
- Year 10 Pass (Good grades in English and Maths)
- VET course or extended work experience with a similar employer
VET/ TAFE
- Certificate II in Engineering Studies (Fabrication)
SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
- Communication Skills
- Work Well in a Team
- Fast Learner
- Willingness to Learn
- Had some trade experience either at home or through school-based work experience
What is the selection process?
- Interview with QSW senior management.
- Testing – Aptitude, mechanical reasoning and basic maths.
- Final Interview with a company director, workshop manager and OHS&QA Manager.
What is the training process?
Training begins with an initial 3-month program that will have you working on creating some tools to support with your trade/ learning with progression to learning a range of welding methodologies prior to working on projects. This program is designed to ensure you are successful from the outset.
Once the initial 3-month period is completed you will begin working with qualified tradespeople on QSW projects.
What happens when you get qualified?
After 3-4 years you can graduate as a fully qualified tradesperson.
You can then apply for a full-time job and kick off a long-term career at QSW.
